A Collaboration between Fuhui Association and HKYWCA Sha Tau Kok Jockey Club Integrated Social Service Centre
I. Collaborating Parties
- Fuhui Association: Dedicated to empowering women's physiological health. Its proprietary brand, Women Power Up, promotes eco-friendly graphene antibacterial sanitary pads, focuses on community skills training and menstrual health education, and builds a mutual aid platform through domestic and international philanthropic initiatives. Fuhui Association provides all production materials, professional instructors, and technical support regarding graphene functional materials.
- HKYWCA Sha Tau Kok Jockey Club Integrated Social Service Centre (The Centre): A core community service hub in Sha Tau Kok, New Territories. Rooted in the local grassroots, it serves underprivileged women, new immigrants, the unemployed, and youth volunteers. It regularly hosts charity skills training, female development courses, and community support programs. The Centre provides the venue, trainee recruitment, and local promotional support.
- Venue: YWCA Integrated Social Service Centre, G/F, Ying Hoi House, 23 Shun Hing Street, Sha Tau Kok Chuen.
II. Core Project Objectives
- Empowering Local Women with Skills: Providing grassroots women in Hong Kong with systematic training in the hand-sewing of graphene sanitary pads, covering the principles of graphene antibacterial chips, professional fabric layering, and the design and construction of breathable, leak-proof structures.
- Popularizing Menstrual Health Education: Conducting workshops on physiological health, menstrual hygiene, the benefits of graphene antibacterial care, pH balance, and the prevention of gynecological issues to break taboos and improve self-health management.
- Facilitating Micro-Entrepreneurship: Leveraging the Women Power Up platform to teach unemployed or stay-at-home women home-based crafting skills and providing insights into side-hustle operations, creating flexible, low-cost income opportunities.
- Cross-Border Philanthropic Aid: Through the Women Power Up charity initiative, high-quality graphene sanitary pads handcrafted by trainees will be distributed to women in Africa to alleviate material shortages and improve menstrual hygiene conditions, fostering a spirit of global female solidarity.
III. Training Content
1. Theoretical Classes
- Graphene Technology Principles: In-depth education on the benefits of graphene, including antibacterial properties, far-infrared breathability, antioxidant effects, and skin-friendliness.
- Safety Awareness: Comparing graphene pads with inferior market products (e.g., recycled pulp, fluorescent agents, industrial glues, and lack of breathability).
- Professional Health Knowledge: Practical content on reproductive health, daily menstrual care, intimate area maintenance, and prevention of common gynecological issues.
- Philanthropic Philosophy: Sharing the Women Power Up global aid mission and the importance of supporting women in need.
2. Practical Workshop
- Material Selection and Cutting: Selecting and precision-cutting skin-friendly cotton, absorbent layers, graphene antibacterial chips, and waterproof/leak-proof base layers.
- Craftsmanship: Hands-on instruction in layering, precision sewing, wing shaping, and structural design for washable, reusable pads.
- Maintenance Standards: Teaching cleaning, sterilization, drying, storage, and maintenance methods to ensure the hygiene and durability of the finished products.
IV. Target Audience
Grassroots women in Sha Tau Kok and the North District, new immigrants, unemployed women, and community youth volunteers. This is a free public interest project open to all; no prior sewing experience is required.
V. Project Highlights
- Integration of Technology and Craft: Combining cutting-edge graphene antibacterial materials with traditional sewing techniques, resulting in products that are functional, eco-friendly, and socially valuable.
- Complete Philanthropic Loop: Managed by the Women Power Up brand, the project achieves an integrated cycle of local skills training, sales opportunities, and overseas humanitarian donations.
- Targeted Grassroots Service: Rooted in the border community of Sha Tau Kok, the project specifically addresses the core needs of women with limited access to resources and employment opportunities, providing both health care and skill enhancement.
- Large-Scale Exhibition Collaboration: This project serves as a key community-based outreach initiative for the 2026 Hong Kong Book Fair’s "Women Power Up" theme. By anchoring the exhibition’s content in grassroots philanthropic practice, the project creates a multi-dimensional impact that spans across three key areas: community engagement, brand exhibition presence, and overseas humanitarian aid.
